Audra Mcdonald is a standout in the range of her talents and her versatility in her roles as a performer and singer. Audra McDonald, winner of the prestigious six Tony Awards in a row and two Grammy Awards in 2015 was listed as one of the Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People. President Barack Obama also awarded her the National Medal of Arts -- America's highest honour for achievements in this field. An enthralling singer who has an extraordinary gift for emotional truth-telling, Ms. O'Connor can be found on Broadway as well as the opera stage and in TV. She has a successful career as a recording artist and concert performer, appearing regularly at some of the most prestigious performances around the world. McDonald is a native of California, born in Fresno California to a music family, completed the classical vocal training she received at the New York's Juilliard School. After graduating McDonald was awarded her Tony Award Best Performance for an Actress in Musical Lead in Carousel for Lincoln Center Theater. The next four years she was awarded two more Tony Awards in the featured actress category for her performance in performances in the Broadway premieres of Terrence McNally's show Master Class (1996) and the musical Ragtime (1998) making an unheard of number of Tony Awards before the age of 30. She won her fourth Tony for her role on stage in A Raisin in the Sun alongside Sean Diddy Combs. Then in 2013, she took home her 5th Tony as well as her first in the leading actress category. As the Tony Awards' most decorated actor, she managed to create Broadway history when she received the sixth Tony Award the role of Billie Holiday as Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. This performance also served as the basis to make her Olivier Award nominee 2017 London West End debut. Aside from setting a record in the contest to win the most awards for acting, she became the first person to win each of the four categories for acting. Her credits in the theatre includes The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (993) Henry IV (2004) and 110 in the Shade (707). Twelfth Night was McDonald's Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park debut. Shuffle Along is the Making of the Musical Seduction of 1921-and All That Followed. Frankie Johnny on the Clair de Lune. and Ohio State Murders. It was the Peabody Award-winning CBS show Having Our Say The Delany Sisters First 100 Years that was the first to introduce McDonald to television audiences as a dramatic actor. In 1999, she costarred alongside Kathy Bates and Victor Garber on the Disney/ABC television version of Annie. Then, in 2000, she played a regular role in NBC's well-known show Law & Order Special Victims Unit. After receiving her first Emmy nomination for her performance on the HBO film version of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Wit, written by Mike Nichols and starring Emma Thompson McDonald returned to network television in 2003 in the political drama Mister Sterling, produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. and featuring Josh Brolin. Then, in the beginning of 2006, she joined the cast of the show on WB called The Bedford Diaries and over the next season she had a recurring role on the television series of NBC, Kidnapped. McDonald was nominated for a Fourth Emmy in 2016, for her role in HBO's movie called Lady Day, at Emerson's Bar & Grill. She also appeared in 2021 when she appeared with Taylor Schilling and Steven Pasquale as part of The Bite, a pandemic drama that was co-produced between Spectrum Originals and CBS Studios. McDonald was first seen in the CBS show The Good Wife as a legal actress The Good Wife as U.S. attorneys Liz Lawrence and Liz Reddick between 2009 and 2018. She reprised her roles (now called Liz Reddick) in The Good Fight as the Paramount+ season regular. McDonald was nominated in the three Critics Choice Award awards. The actress also appeared on Julian Fellowes historical drama The Gilded Age.
